What this is
English Shadowing (englishshadowing.app) is a language-practice tool: it plays YouTube videos with word-by-word subtitles for shadowing practice. Videos belong to their creators and play through YouTube's own embedded player under YouTube's terms. Subtitles and translations we display are generated as a learning aid and may contain mistakes.
Free and Pro
The free tier includes watching any video with its captions, plus a short translated preview on videos that already have translations. Full auto-translation into your language is part of the Pro plan. Until paid subscriptions launch, Pro access may be granted by hand. Prices and what each tier includes can change; changes never apply retroactively to time already paid for.
Accounts
Signing in requires a Google account. You are responsible for your Google account's security. We may close accounts that abuse the service.
Fair use
The app is for personal language learning. Automated scraping, bulk-downloading captions or translations, reselling access, or deliberately driving up processing costs is not allowed.
No warranty
The service is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it fast and available, but we do not promise uninterrupted service, and features may change or be discontinued. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim — for free use, that is zero.
